Britney In “Controversy” Scandal?

britneyspears4As you read that headline, you’re probably in as much shock as I was when I heard about it. “Britney? In some kind of scandal? No no. This is Britney Spears, we’re talking about right?” But, appearantly, yes. Britney is in some kind of trouble.

Following the commercial and critical success of the first two singles off her latest album, Womanizer and Circus, the third single is set to be If U Seek Amy. In case you’re an idiot or leave under a rock or both (and you’d have to be an idiot if you live under a rock, really), say the title of the song really quickly and it does, indeed, sound quite dirty. The lyrics to the song itself are actually quite confusing and misleading, with the chorus chanting: “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If U Seek Amy“, which is fine, but then she goes on to reference an actual person named Amy throughout the song, which indicates that all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to maybe look for this girl? I’m confused.

Anyways, the FCC have decided that the song in its original state cannot be played between the hours of 6 am and 10 pm (what I like to call The Jonas Brothers hours), and any radio or t.v. station that does will be fined $325,000 per offence. So Britney has decided to re-record the song for the tweeny-boppers (who most likely already have the album and have heard the original version anyway), and it will be called If You See Amy. So, to wit: “All of the boys and all of the girls are begging to If You See Amy”.

So instead of a generation of horny teens, we’ll have a large demograph who think that previous sentence is proper English. And who will they blame for a million young people possessing bad grammar? Britney. The poor girl just can’t get a break.
